At the simplest level, a gasket does nothing more than make sure a pipe connection doesn’t leak. Spiral Wound gaskets, first introduced in 1912, offer an inexpensive solution (along with sheet gaskets) to sealing a pipe flange in your most common applications. That is until they leak!

 
 

Selco’s gasket construction is unique. Beads of a sealing element (often flexible graphite) run thru tracks compressed into a single corrugated metal carrier. This simple, yet highly effective, design allows for performance superior than any alternative.

How it Works

The metal carrier encapsulates the sealing element making the gasket blowout proof. The sealing element is energized so less seating stress is required. Thermal cycling is absorbed, and a seal is maintained without re-torquing.
